Study with Sherry Martin, as she teaches beginner classical realism drawing and painting in the Artelier studio tradition in the winery loft gallery and throughout the Estate.
Classical oil painting is one of the highest art forms known. While working in studio, students will learn from lectures, demonstrations and painting from still life. Students will paint using a “closed palette” while exploring value, hue and chrome. Classical drawing techniques such at the use of the envelope, blocking in, contour and the rendering of 3 dimensional forms, through the use of shadow, will be explored. Students take work to various stages of completion as they learn the basics of Artelier oil painting as passed down through oral tradition and practice.
Portfolio submissions are welcome. Each student will be assessed to work at the appropriate level and will benefit from individual critiques at their easel.
Of course, the camaraderie of being in a small class setting will also be of great benefit.
Enjoy wine by the glass while in studio.
Class size limited to 12 students.
Material List provided upon confirmed registration.
