Chris Gostling plays the Speakeasy

Chris Gostling plays the Speakeasy

Chris Gostling has been storytelling through songs for nearly 30 years. A multi-instrumentalist based in Eastern Ontario, his singer / songwriter’s style pays homage to folk, roots-rock and Americana veins while remaining a unique sonic offering.

On October 4th, Gostling released his sophomore full length album, "Forest City Town Country”. Recorded on Wolfe Island in Kingston, with the musical support of Hugh Christopher Brown, Jason Mercer, Liam Cole and Craig “Rocky” Roberts, the album sonically crosses genres from indie-folk through alt-country soulfulness and beyond.

"Forest City Town Country" is an evolution of Chris’ songwriting, and storytelling. He writes about experience, either personal or from witnessing other people's lives. From overheard tales through the thin walls in apartment buildings, to a reflection on a last family vacation as a kid, to the concept of enduring grief and the seasons that we seem to feel it the most, these songs start as catharsis and become a shared experience when played for others.

Doors open at 4:30 PM so you can get a good seat and your orders in. Show starts at 5:00 PM and we close at 9 PM.

Enjoy live music while imbibing with wine by the glass, plant-based cheese and charcuterie and other delicious wine bar snacks and good eats. Reserve with a $10 deposit that goes towards Karlo classic food pairings for you and your guests like a handful of chips, a table spoon of nuts, wasabi peas, a sampling of plant-based cheese and charcuterie, seasonal fruit and chocolate.

Bobby Dove Plays the Speakeasy

Bobby Dove, the Montreal born singer-songwriter, is a magnetic presence in the world of Country and Americana music. With a voice as powerful as their storytelling, this trans/non-binary troubadour pays tribute to the golden age of Country, while crafting original, emotionally charged songs that “blend genres with the touch of a master.” (Mary Gauthier) In 2021 Bobby released their sophomore record, Hopeless Romantic, co-produced with Blue Rodeo's Bazil Donovan, and Tim Vesely (Rheostatics). The album gained international acclaim and climbed the Canadian Roots and US Alt-Country radio charts. The album also earned Bobby a record deal in the Netherlands, leading to their first European tour in 2022/23. Touring extensively throughout Canada, in addition to all the local haunts, Bobby Dove has given highlight performances at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, Vancouver Island Music Fest, Winnipeg Folk Festival, Dauphin’s Countryfest, National Arts Centre (Ottawa), and Tivoli Vredenburg in Utrecht, NL. Along the road, Bobby has collaborated with luminaries such as Fats Kaplin (John Prine), Mary Gauthier, Richard Thompson, Ray Benson (Asleep at the Wheel), and Lavender Country. Currently based in rural Manitoba, Bobby Dove is scheduled to showcase at AmericanaFest this September in Nashville, TN, as they drop the first single “Not Much of an Outlaw” from their upcoming full-length album “Fortune Teller” set to release in 2026. Produced by Aaron Goldstein (Cowboy Junkies/City and Colour), the new record features 13 tracks, including a cowrite/duet with Grammy winning singer-songwriter Jim Lauderdale.

Sam Weber/Lily Talmers with special guest Brian MacMillan

Remember that magical night back in October 2023?

Well more beautiful moments are happening SATURDAY 7 FEBRUARY with the return of Sam Weber to Prince Edward County.

Sam, a Portland based songwriter whose songwriting and musicianship are disciplined enough to stun and feel effortless as slight -of -hand magic. Sharing bills with Feist and Anna Tivel, and earning songwriting credits from Grammy Winner Madison Cunningham. Weber writes of the complexity of human existence: eternal in a fragmenting modern world.

This year we are so pleased to have Lily Talmers - A singer song writer drawing from heady 60 folk revivalists as Leonard Cohen and Judee Sill, her midwestern-accented melodies are coated with infancy and refined wit.

If that is not amazing enough - We have the very talented Brian MacMillan joining us to open the evening. With a humming solo career, Brian also performs with duos and trios. He can also be found making music for commercials, corporate short films, scoring feature films, writing for other artists and producing records.

Join us at the stunning cozy speakeasy at Karlo Estates and indulge in their portfolio of deliciousness. The perfect venue for this intimate show.

I promise you don't want to miss this one.
