County Hospitality
We invite you to try our wine in our post and beam barn built in 1805, then walk the vineyard with glass in hand to visit our dry-stone bridge. Cozy up in our speakeasy Wine Lounge equipped with virus-killing fresh air ventilation pods. Hang out in the barnyard to catch some rays or chill on the patio for fresh air views of the vineyards. We’ve got lots of special events to give you reasons to keep coming back. Enjoy local, artisanal plant-based cheese and charcuterie and listen to live music while drinking wine by the glass.
For The Love of Wine
Karlo Estates was co-founded by the late Richard Karlo and his widow, Sherry Karlo. Together they hit the ground running to critical aclaim. Sadly, Richard died in November of 2014 from stage four colon cancer but Sherry was determined to carry on. Being blessed by another wonderful man in her life, Sherry partnered with wine connoisseur and business-builder, Saxe Brickenden, who studied wine in Europe and helps to carry on the dream to build an artisanal winery worthy of world recognition. They have big plans for Karlo Estates, so if you want to be able to say you knew them when, sign up for our newsletter for insider access and a more intimate role as it all comes to fruition.
Share The Love
Help us achieve our dreams by enjoing a tasting. We recommend you make a reservation but we do accept walk-ins. We are kid-friendly and dog-friendly. Feel a little safer thanks to our heated/air-conditioned virus-killer ventilation system in our charming Wine Lounge. Enjoy several other tasting spaces in an authentic County barn, but if it’s winter, be sure to layer up and get your Canadian on. Our post and beam barn was built in 1805 by retired Loyalist ship-builders turned farmers. If you’d like to read more about the building of Karlo Estates, check out our history page or come in and let us tell you our story in person.
And The Passion
With the help of Winemaker, Spencer Mayer, Executive Winemaker, Derek Barnett earned Karlo 23 gold medal scores in a twelve month period. Exceptional wines have grown our reputation as one of the best-known private wineries in Ontario. We have chosen to be unavailable in the LCBO because we sell out of every wine every vintage. We do sell both from our farm gate and online here on our website. Check out our Bottle Shop. We produce 84,000 bottles a year. Yet, we only sell to private clients and high end restaurants. To see where, check “Restaurants” under “Wines”. Click below for read about our accomplishments.
