Little Bug White

CA$22.00

This wine is named after Little Bug, a Chimera cat born in our barn. She is half tortoise shell, half calico. Like her, this wine is a blend of two ~ Vidal and Frontenac Blanc which are hybrid grapes. Little Bug is the product of two fraternal twins joined to create one cat.

Each year Little Bug (the cat) hosts a photo competition. Post a picture of her on social media with #LittleBugPEC and every New Year’s, our team votes for the best picture to win one of our “Rare Finds” wines, worthy of collecting or as a unique treat.

Winemaker’s Notes

For our second release, we selected premium quality hybrids to be made into our Little Bug White ~ Vidal and property grown Frontenac Blanc ~ chosen for their ideal flavour profiles. Vidal contributes honeyed fruity richness, and Geisenheim floral intensity and juicy acidity.

Hybrid grapes grow well in the cooler wine regions where the growing seasons can, in some years, be challenging. The wines were blended until we achieved the peak of aromatics, balance & smoothness, and then carefully filtered & hand-bottled for your enjoyment.

Tasting Notes

An intensely aromatic nose leaps out of the glass. Expect white wildflowers, green melon and honey with hints of smoke followed by honeysuckle, orange blossom and citrus peel.

The palate reveals a clean, crisp and refreshing juicy acidity. The same notes follow through from the nose. Lemon zest, watermelon, white peach and apricot add structure and complexity.

Pairing Notes

Match the intensity of food with that of the wine, avoiding one overpowering the other, but rather extending the pleasure. Pair Macadamia nut sauce, Asian chick pea salad, grilled heart of palm and artichoke hearts, white bean dip on endive, risotto and lentil melange, lemon, rosemary and potato coconut gratin, pistachios, cashew mac and cheese, potato leek soup, corn chowder, white mushroom stroganoff, cauliflower wild rice soup, baked gnocchi, creamy coleslaw or pesto pizza.
